Guitars

this is my stella guitar that you might have seen me playing at many of my performances.  it has the marking S-46 inside of it.  that means that it was made in the spring of 1946.  though it is old, it is not valuable to anyone but me as these are not highly collectable.  i bought it in 1999 at the "antique company mall" in downtown mckinney.  there was a fellow there with a booth called "farmhouse guitars".  he specialized in inexpensive-but-cool-looking, american-made instruments from yesteryear.  my stella - and i call her "stella" - was customized by chris jenkins for stage work.  frets, fretboard, nut, tuners, and bridge have been replaced.  electronics were installed [ l.r. baggs ribbon transducer... no internal acoustic mics for me].  the stella that you see with lauren adelle was also customized by chris.  contact chris about all his wonderful instruments at http://cjenkinsluthier.com .  this photo was taken by my friend chelo garcia at the iron cactus during one of my breaks.  this has been my main guitar for performances since about a third of the way thru 2000.  if you make a conservative estimate that i do 160 acoustic gigs per year on average since that time - then i have played this guitar at at least 1600 gigs.  she was re-fretted again in 2008. she had her first-ever neck reset in 2009.
